Rebels shooting at BVC plane
Rebels opened mortar fire at an African cargo plane belonging to BVC airline owned by Barthe Cortes immediately after its landing at the airport near Obbia. None of the missiles hit the plane directly. The attack was claimed by Al-Shabaab, a group of extreme Islamists related to Al-Qaeda, which sent to media a recording of the shooting.
The group’s press spokesman, sheikh Hussein Ali Fidow said that the attacks were launched against enemies of Allah who came to Somalia to spread democracy.
The attacks will not cease, as the temporary government supports the U.S. which are their greatest enemy, added he. Hussein Ali Fidow accused Cortes directly of acting in aid of the Somali temporary government. Airline owner Barthe Cortes, said “no” when asked if he intended to suspend flights to Somalia for some time.
